2012 National Direct Instruction Confrerence and Institutes 

Registration is now open for the 38th National Direct Instruction Conference and Institutes, to be held in Eugene, Oregon, July 22-26.  The theme this year is “Creating and Sustaining Success.”  Special Keynote speaker this year is Eric Mahmoud, founder and chief officer of Harvest Prep/Seed Academy in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  DI veterans may remember Mr. Mahmoud’s keynote in Eugene 11 years ago as being inspiring as well as informational.  Since that time his schools are two of the best schools in Minnesota at closing the achievement gap between white and African American students, as well as receiving several state and national recognitions.

Another feature of the conference this year is a free bonus session on Advocacy.  Dr. John Stone, founding president of the Education Consumers Foundation and head of the Education Consumers Clearinghouse will talk about how to build public awareness of test-based accountability for school performance and how to get decision makers to value the practices and people who produce exceptional results.
